Get on the Hardcore Italians Pizza Tour in New Haven to taste your way through the Pizza Capital of the United States! Led by Taste of New Haven’s pizza guru Colin M. Caplan we take guests on a high level pizza tour of this historic city and rich Italian enclave. This five-hour 1 mile walk takes us to some of the most historic and highest rated pizzerias in the country and tasting a variety of pizza styles from New Haven style apizza, to Neapolitan style to Sicilian style pies. All food tastes plus beer, wine or soda are included in this tour experience.
We start at the legendary Sally’s Apizza founded in 1938 for three pizza tastes including the original tomato pie with garlic, also a mozzarella pizza and a white potato, onion & rosemary pie. We then head to the historic Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana started in 1925 for the original tomato pie with garlic, a mozzarella pizza & their famous white clam pie. After we jump over to modern day Naples to sample Neapolitan pizza at Zeneli Pizzeria tasting a marinara and a Margherita pizza. Our next stop is a brief standing taste at GIOIA for their signature Sicilian Margherita pizza. Next we stretch our bellies with a walk through the old Little Italy and Wooster Square neighborhood to see sites like St Michael’s Church, Saint Andrew’s Apostle Society, the old Italian Consulate and the numerous historic sites of old New Haven. Our final stop is the popping BAR to feature their signature mashed potato & bacon pizza, as well as a sausage & mozzare
